The various design options to facilitate the increase in rail capacity and potential closure of level crossings have not yet been developed. The various preferred and recommended design solutions will be presented to the public as part of public consultations in advance of the Railway Order Application.
DART+ Coastal has just commenced the concept phase; this will be followed by the preliminary design phase and statutory planning approvals Phases. When the necessary permissions have been granted, the detailed design and procurement phases will be undertaken. Pending further approvals the contract award for the construction phase is likely to be in 2024.
The public consultation process will commence towards the latter end of the concept phase, this is to allow review and commentary on the varying proposals. For the Northern Line this process is likely to commence in Q3 2021 and for the Southern Line this is likely to commence in Q1 2022.
It is too early in the design process to identify proposed compound locations. Potential locations will be presented as part of public consultation process and the final locations will be identified in the Railway Order application.
DART+ Coastal is at the beginning of the concept design phase which involves the identification of alternative options. Consequently, it is not possible at this time to identify the locations of new substations required as part of DART+ Coastal. This information will however be available following the completion of the concept design phase and in time for the first public consultation.
The works will be undertaken in a manner so as to avoid or minimise impacts on adjoining properties, and it is not anticipated that damage will occur. A condition survey may be required of existing structures and buildings adjacent to the works at certain locations. These will be determined on a case by case basis depending on the works required at that location and the specific conditions. Should your property be deemed to require a condition survey you will be notified and your permission will be sought to conduct the survey. A copy of the condition survey will be issued to the property owner. The condition survey would take place at the preconstruction stage to provide assurance to property owners.
