Revised Ashtown Preferred Option
In response to submissions received during Public Consultation No. 2 for DART+ West, a revised Preferred Option for Ashtown has been developed. A localised Public Consultation is now live and will run for 4 weeks until 5pm Wednesday 6th April 2022.
The DART+ West project has re-assessed and re-analysed the option selection process for the provision of a new crossing of the railway & canal corridor at Ashtown, due to the closure of the existing railway level crossing. This was deemed appropriate following the feedback received during Public Consultation No. 2 in 2021. This re-assessment has led to the identification of a revised preferred option for Ashtown taking account of new information and criteria submitted by the public.
Iarnród Éireann is now seeking feedback, through localised public consultation, on this revised preferred option. This consultation will run for 4-weeks, concluding on the 6th April 2022.
There will be an in-person consultation evening at St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh GAA Clubhouse on Thursday 31st March and people can drop in between the hours of 6pm-9pm on that day. Information on the revised preferred option for Ashtown will be on display and there will be members of the project team there to answer any question that attendees have. No prior registration is required.
Please note that this in-person event is in addition to the public webinar which will be held on Tuesday 22nd March at 19:00hrs. As with previous webinars, you can register your attendance by emailing dartwest@irishrail.ie and you will be issued with a link to join.
The revised preferred option includes a pedestrian and cycle bridge at the location of the existing level crossing with a vehicular underpass further to the west than the previous preferred option. Full details are available in the Revised Ashtown preferred option - Option Selection Report.
Contact details and information on how to lodge your submission are available on the How to Engage page.
*Please note that all submissions received during PC1 and PC2 for the DART+ West Project have been reviewed and incorporated into the project design and development where possible. No other changes to the proposed works are as substantive as those at Ashtown so additional consultation will not take place for other areas at this stage. The information from Public Consultation No 2 is available on www.dartplus.ie and is still the most up to date information for all other locations outside of the Ashtown area.
